To empower women in the natural rubber industry in Sri Lanka, GRI conducted a comprehensive training on “Management of household finance under current economic conditions” at the Ingiriya Rubber Collecting Center in Sri Lanka. Recognizing the crucial role women play in household economics these days, GRI strives to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to take charge of their financial futures.
The Training program was conducted by Ms. Shashika Nimali who is an NLP Practitioner and a Life Coach at the University of Kelaniya. Financial independence is a cornerstone of gender equality, and yet, many women face significant barriers when it comes to managing household finances. GRI's initiative aims to bridge this gap by offering tailored training sessions designed to empower women with the tools they need to make informed financial decisions.
"As part of the GRI GREEN X CIRCLE initiative to work closely with natural rubber farmers in Sri Lanka, we believe aim to empower women with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively. We strive to help them achieve greater financial security and independence," says Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma, CEO at GRI. "Our goal is to empower women to take control of their financial futures and build a better tomorrow for themselves and their families."
Through a series of workshops and seminars, participants learned essential skills such as budget planning, debt management, savings strategies, and investment fundamentals. The curriculum was carefully crafted to cater to women from small holder rubber farmer families, ensuring accessibility and relevance to all participants.
As the initiative gains momentum, GRI remains committed to empowering rubber farmer families under the GREEN X CIRCLE as they are the key stake holders in GRI’s value chain. GRI had taken many steps to enhance the livelihood of these farmer communities by conducting training programs to further enhance their knowledge and productivity.
